The compound is supplied in 25kg bags in a powder form and only needs the addition of clean water. The resulting repair will restore the beauty of the building and contribute towards the extended life of the structure.
To produce and effective repair all loose material should be removed to achieve a sound surface.
If necessary open up the edges of the repair to ensure the minimum depth of repair is 10mm.
Blend the powder thoroughly with water to make a mixture, which is workable but not too wet as this will slump on vertical surfaces.
Thoroughly dampen down the area to be repaired with clean water.
Repairs of up to 15mm depth can be made in one application. Deeper repairs can be made building up in layers of 15mm using scratch coats. Allowing each coat to dry thoroughly.
Very deep repairs (over 60mm) should be reinforced with a non ferrous cage e.g. stainless steel screws and copper wire. This reinforcement will also be useful on corners or detailed stonework.
Flat surfaces such as window cills can be repaired in one application up to 75mm depth with temporary shuttering to form edges.
The repair can be shaped during application to produce detailing.
The finish of the repair should be carried out using a wood float.
The repair should then be covered to prevent rapid drying out. For further technical support please contact us.
